About Me


Born and raised in Southern China, Piaoyu  received her MFA in Directing at FAMU in 2018. Piaoyu’s short film THE NETTLE (2017), a coming-of-age queer drama, premiered at BFI Flare and was selected by many other festivals, for instance Palm Springs Shortfest, and shortlisted for the prestigious Iris Prize.

Piaoyu is preparing her feature debut THE UGLY MANDARINE with producer Veronika Kührová. The project was selected to Midpoint’s Project Lab and received the Coco award during the pitching at Karlovy Vary FF.
